Himanshu Prabha Ray is Research Fellow, Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies, Oxford. having worked earlier at the university as professor. Her recent books include Coastal Shrines and Transnational Maritime Networks, 2021; and an edited volume, Archaeology of Knowledge Traditions of the Indian Ocean World, 2021. She was the recipient of the Anneliese Maier Research Award of the Humboldt Foundation (2014-2019) and was affiliated with the Distant Worlds Programme, Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich. She is a former Professor, Centre for Historical Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and First Chairperson, National Monuments Authority, Ministry of Culture. She is the Series Editor of Routledge Archaeology and Religion in South Asia. Some of her recent books include Coastal Shrines and Transnational Maritime Networks across India and Southeast Asia, 2021; The Archaeology of Seafaring in Ancient South Asia, Cambridge World Archaeology Series, 2003; and an edited volume, Archaeology of Knowledge Traditions of the Indian Ocean World, 2021.

Shailendra Bhandare is Senior Curator, Ashmolean Museum, University of Oxford. His recent edited volume was Odyssey of the Rupee, published in 2026 to mark an exhibition celebrating 75th anniversary of independent India's rupee coinage, curated by Shailendra and held at Sarmaya Foundation, Mumbai.
