From the Editor:
America Does Not Exist took root as the United States administration began scrubbing the existence of transgender people from the internet and other public records. In response to this fear-driven erasure by those in power, we say: America does not exist.
The America we were sold-where everyone is equal, where everyone has access to the American Dream-that America does not exist. But we are still here, and we will not be erased.
What is it like to be a trans person in America right now? We invite you to sit with these poems and artworks and witness a fraction of what we are experiencing. We need every bit of solidarity we can gather.
We need your voice, too.
Thank you for reading.
