Michael Gottlieb is the author of 17 books as well as several memoirs and extended essays on the discipline and community of poetry. A stage adaptation of his definitine 9/11 poem, The Dust, was performed at the Poetry Project at St. Mark's on the 10th anniversary of the attacks. He was born in New York City.
