Poemisations is a collection of the poetry produced by Dave Cook after his retirement, born from an unusual and somewhat irreverent approach to poetry and a desire to produce something a bit different.
The book is divided into three sections. First "A Sort of Poetry" is a miscellaneous selection of what you might call 'normal' poetry with a fair selection of conventional and unconventional forms. Second "Science, Romance and Stuff" includes poems that fuse science and romance quite naturally together. Third "The Life and Times of Felix the Helix" chronicles the adventures of an opinionated and complex but amiable snail in poetry.
The driving force behind this poetry is to celebrate creativity in the language of emotion and science and of the diverse experiences of Dave's life. Expect astrophysics, chemical elements, ukuleles and sewage treatment; don't expect metaphor, classical mythology and the Bard.
