Nakamizo Kazuya is Professor at the Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies, Kyoto University. He specializes in contemporary Indian politics, South Asian area studies, political science, and international political science. He was born in Fukuoka Prefecture and received his Doctor of Law from the University of Tokyo. His research topic explores the possibilities for democracy in solving poverty and violence. He has been working on Indian politics, largely within a theoretical framework, especially focusing on the state of Bihar in India known for widespread poverty and violence.
