A late Howells work for SATB and organ. Although originally intended for liturgical use, it could also be used as a festive anthem or in a recital. From the first notes of the organ part it is clear that this is vintage Howells.
The composer's wonderful melodic invention comes to the fore with 'the glorious company of angels' and 'we therefore pray thee, help thy servants', and the work is never less than beautfiully crafted and vocally very effective, although it makes considerable demands upon the singers.
